Lumecca

Lumecca, developed by InMode, is a breakthrough intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment, designed to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) device that is designed to heat and destroy damaged skin cells by delivering a comfortable light treatment

What Is Lumecca ?

Lumecca is a breakthrough intense pulsed light (IPL) that delivers up to 3X more energy than traditional IPL's in the 500-600nm range, to improve efficacy for vascular and pigmented lesions.

Lumecca IPL skin treatments utilizes the power of broad-spectrum light to address various skin concerns. Scientifically, it works based on the principle of selective photothermolysis. During the treatment, the device emits pulses of broad-spectrum light that penetrate the skin's surface. This light is filtered to target specific chromophores in the skin, such as melanin (responsible for pigmentation) and hemoglobin (found in blood vessels), while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues. The targeted chromophores absorb the light energy, which is then converted into heat. This heat damages the specific target, such as pigmented spots or blood vessels, while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

The treatment also stimulates collagen and elastin production in the skin, promoting skin rejuvenation. Increased collagen and elastin help improve skin tone, texture, and overall firmness, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

What Can Lumecca Treat ?

Lumecca may be used to treat the skin on many areas of the face or body. Lumecca treatments are designed to address both pigmented and hemaglobin lesions.

Pigmented Lesions

Pigmented lesions involve small or large spots on the skin which gives a brown , black or blue colour to the skin also known as pigmentation. Pigmented lesions are the end result of the immune system triggering an inflammatory response, which then triggers melanocyte activity to protect the skin’s DNA from damage and mutation. Melanocytes are the cells that produce melanin, the substance that gives colour (pigment) to the skin. Lumecca can treat a variety of pigmented lesions;

  • Sun damage

  • Age Spots

  • Poikiloderma

  • Freckles

  • Lentigines

Vascular lesions are patches of skin that look red or purple, caused by ruptured blood vessels under the skin. Vascular lesions on your skin may be present at birth or can develop over time. The lesions can be any size, shape or color intensity. Lummeca can treat a variety of vascular lesions;

  • Telanightecstasies

  • Cherry anginomas

 FAQs

  • Many patients will see visible improvements in their skin complexion after just one or two treatments. However, three to four treatments are generally required in order to achieve the best results.

  • Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subsides within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterwards the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

  • A consultation is mandatory prior to treatment to determine the skin's functioning and your goals. A tyronaise inhibitor is required pre and post treatment. Avoid sun exposure (apply SPF 50 or above sunscreen daily and do not tan at all) for 2 weeks prior to treatment. Do not apply self-tanners or spray tans for 2 weeks before treatment. Avoid the use any retinol, retinol products, salicylic products, or exfoliation products 5 days prior treatment.

  • Some improvements in skin complexion can be seen a couple of days after Lumecca IPL treatment, but the results will be more visible after one to two weeks. Multiple sessions will help patients achieve their ideal outcomes.

  • During the treatment, there will be a bright flash of light from the Lumecca that feels like a light elastic sensation.
